From 1990 to 2006, key personnel from ALLSAT GmbH and Allsat GmbH network+services has contributed to the design, successful implementation and completion of three projects of International Border Survey and Demarcation between the Kingdom of Saudi-Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Yemen. Engineers and Consultants of ALLSAT have been involved in technical design, project management and realization of those border demarcation projects in the region. The total length of these border lines is about 2,450 km, along with more than 1,000 border points which were determined and surveyed using both Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and conventional (terrestrial) field surveying techniques.
ALLSAT's work included the preparation of Technical Specifications for the survey work, management and implementation of survey work in desert camps with more than 150 (local) collaborators, survey of international border demarcation points in desert and mountain environments, as well as organisational preparation of international negotiations regarding determination of the localisation of the borders. Furthermore training of local personnel involved in the project in the use of geodetic GNSS equipment and software (geodetic and mapping software) was performed.
In the mentioned projects ALLSAT has carried out many person-years (altogether 8 years of presence in the region) of professional project management and project implementation work on the Arabian Peninsula. ALLSAT's engineers got practical experiences in technical work regarding execution of GNSS and conventional field surveying in desert and high mountain environments, in postprocessing of difficult data as well as all areas of project management. Also they learned about aspects of international and cross-cultural work in large teams.
